Shirovasti Ayurvedic Treatment
Shirovasti is a process by which the oil is retained on the head of the person for a certain period of time with the help of a leather cap. Shirovasti is derived from the two words 'Shiro' means head and 'Vasti' is used to define a container that can hold any type of medicated herbal oil. Shirovasti is similar to Shirodhara where the oil is administered on the head. The main difference between shirodhara and shirovasti is that in shirodhara, the herbal oil is poured on the forehead where as in shirovasti the oil is kept in the head soaking the head with the oil.
The medicated oil used in the procedure is based upon the Rogi bala (strength of the patient) and Roga Bala (severity of the disease). The treatment needs a proper counselling, as it requires much patience to out the whole procedure. Also it is very important to take care of the medicine which is poured inside it should not leak and stand firmly till the completion of the procedure.
